Frequency of PPD (Para-Phenylenediamine) Allergy in Hair Dye Users in Faisalabad

Objective: To evaluate the frequency of PPD allergic contact dermatitis in hair dye users Faisalabad district. Study Design: Cross Sectional study. Place and Duration Study: Dermatology Outpatient Department District Headquarter Hospital, from 01-07-2018 to 31-12-2018. Methodology: A cross sectional study was carried out 135 patients were included. Male female included this with age between Results: total number Gendser distribution showed that there 110 (81.5%) males 25 (18.5%) females. The mean 38.04±4.96 years. duration use 4±1.5 There 92 (68.1%) 30-40 years 43 (31.9%) 41-50 age. 80 (59.3%) 3-4 55 (40.7%) 4-5 dye. observed 13 (9.6) patients. no association gender (p=0.232), (p=0.591) (p=0.676) respect dermatitis. Conclusion: Para-phenylenediamineis commonest cause Patients can present a variety clinical manifestations, including severe reactions. Patch testing remains gold standard method for confirming allergy. Avoiding future permanent semi-permanent dyes is preventative measure.
